Lake Trace is the landmark of the entire Carolina Trace community. As you enter the gated community the beauty of the lake creates a sense of tranquility as the cares of the world seem to slip away in this calm and peaceful setting. While its shoreline and panoramic views are features of the Lake golf course, the 315-acre lake is ideal for pontoon boat cruising, kayaks, canoes, sailing and fishing. Behind the Clubhouse is a marina where pontoon boats are docked allowing non-lakefront owners access to the lake. The Club also has storage for smaller boats. Although the lake is owned by Carolina Trace Country Club, the lake was formed by damming water of the Upper Little River. Access to its main body is restricted to members of the private, gated community. To ensure a clean and quiet lake for all neighbors, only electric motors are allowed on the lake.

Stocked with a variety of fish, including bass, bream and catfish, Lake Trace has yielded a number of record-sized catches. Those hauls have extended beyond Lake Trace as well, one of the many smaller ponds throughout the community once held the world record for a sunfish catch.

Lake Trace boasts seven miles of shoreline, which back up to undisturbed woods of poplar, oak, pine, beech, holly and dogwoods with wildlife that includes deer, fox, owls, turtles and many species of birds.

Walking Trails

Two walking trails have been developed to access the beautiful natural areas of the community. Carolina Trace is truly the place where you Trace the Dream.
