We are pleased to showcase the renovation of the Lake Course greens.
The original greens were Dominant Bentgrass and were seeded in 1993 and 1994; the greens were constructed in the early 1970s. We are converting our Lake Course greens to Mini Verde which is an Ultra Dwarf Bermuda.
Renovation Timeline: May 18 to August 26, 2011.
The Lake Course Re-Opening Day is scheduled for August 26th.
Some important renovation dates:
May 16 – Divots Inc. starts delivering sand
• 40 to 45 loads of sand will be stockpiled throughout the course
• 4 to 5 days to deliver sand
May 18– Lake Course will close and greens will be sprayed with Round-up
May 19-20 – New Life Turf starts to mobilize equipment
May 23-June 10 – New Life Turf starts renovation work by stripping greens
• The top inch of greens removed
• Once stripping is complete, 2 inches of sand applied and tilled to approximately 6 inches
• Greens fumigated to kill any unwanted weeds
• Greens floated out and rolled to prevent settling
• Surface drainage improved on all greens
June 6 -10-- Pre-plant fertilizers applied by CTCC Maintenance Staff
June 13– Modern Turf arrives to sprig the Putting Green, Nursery Green and Lake Greens
• This will take three days to complete
• A heavy topdressing will be applied once the sprigs are cut in
• Water will be applied frequently to keep sprigs wet during first couple of weeks
June 21– Lake Course will open on Temporary Greens
August 26 – Opening Day!
